Still Alive 2024

It’s been how long? Whoops, life has definitely accelerated. My last post was nearly a year and a half ago, and now I have to recall how I set up posts and whatnot within Hugo. A small recap of what has happened since the last post: I got married! I’m now a Gilbert-Croysdale (last name merge), so this domain makes a little less sense now. This is really reason number one for the drop in this blog, turns out planning a wedding consumes a ton of free time and saps the drive to do things like a small portfolio blog....

Still Alive

Still Alive Small update post to indicate that I am indeed, still alive, just had a supremely busy March with various trips and even more various illnesses. The posts should resume again in a more regular fashion later this month, this time actually targeting Powershell and DevOps topics. About page I swear this will be done at some point. Just not right now.

Favicons

Tiny barely-a-post today, was using a hacked together in MS Paint Favicon, decided to spruce up the effort ever so slightly, so went with a generated one through https://favicon.io/. I used the Text -> ICO generator with the Monoton font and my initials. It looks maybe less good in the tiny browser version but it’s neat enough for now. Neat! Locked Down

At the end of the last post, I made a little footnote marking a little issue I had with the site serving mixed content. It turns out, a setting I had put in place on the GitHub pages site itself resolved it, but just took some time to do so. I had set the Enforce HTTPs setting to checked on the site, saw no change, then began writing the previous post....

New Blog, New Day Well, that was easy. Turns out there’s loads of frameworks for setting up a blog sort of thing without too much pain. Definitely easier and more maintainable than my last github pages site made in Elm, which made the simplest of tasks fantastically difficult. That site acted as an experiment in functional web development, but I didn’t get too far. I did get it to reach out to the github repository and pull issues programatically, which was neat....
